West Helena, AR

The West Helena TD3 trial station is located on the bluffs on the west side of the Mississippi River flood plain. The original 87.5 foot type J tower has a 125 foot extension for path clearance. The single remaining main-platform KS-15676 horn-reflector antenna, facing Arkabutla, MS, was probably converted to diversity. Site access is through a locked gate from the road, but is surrounded by municipal land-fill; vantage point for photo. View is to the north-northwest showing the back-side of the building with the engine back-draft wall, muffler and roof-access ladder typical of these repeater stations.

From the Palmer, AR, TD3 station, continue east on US 49 to West Helena, take SR 185 north (municipal airport) then east to SR 240. Left turn north on 240 about 3/10 mi., then right onto CR 118 Storm Creek Rd. Follow the winding road 1.5 mi. to site on right behind small woods surrounded by landfill.
