This photo illustrates two of the major differences between the type E tower and the heavier towers found at most Long Lines stations:
(1) The absence of a ladder; instead, a steel angle with step bolts runs along the tower face (in line with the whip antenna at the top of the tower); and
(2) the design of the mounting platforms for the horn antennas.
