Elkhorn was a microwave radio relay (auxiliary) station.
The facility was purchased a few years ago by a local cellular operator, which replaced the original tower with a taller, guyed tower pictured. A few items still remain in the building from the AT&T days: the air system, the genset panel, the main AC panel, and some old notebooks containg BSP's, some dating back to 1969.
