Edge Hill was a main station on the L3 coaxial-cable route between Washington, DC and Richmond, VA. It housed motor-alternators which supplied AC power for the cable's repeaters.
The station was also the site of the field trial for the radio communications system for the Presidential yacht "Sequoia".
The Edge Hill station is no longer used, and electrical power has been disconnected at the utility pole. An AT&T fiber-optic cable runs through the site, along the old coaxial-cable right-of-way, but the cable does not enter the buiilding.
