Cortez, CO

Cortez was a Mountain Bell central office with Long Lines microwave facilities.

A 1979 AT&T Long Lines route map shows that Cortez was a station between Goodman PL [?] to the west and Madden to the east.

The microwave antennas are supported by a truncated Type E tower on the building's roof. The E tower is of lighter construction than the Type A, H, L and M towers that were used on major ("heavy") microwave routes. On the E-series towers, the K-brace sections are divided into four 75" lattice sections. The heavy-route towers have K-brace sections divided into three 100" lattice sections.
